Q. Are these programs suitable for beginners?

A. As each program is designed with a focus on attaining a specific time over a given distance, you must first ascertain whether the end goal is realistic over the 8-16 week period. If you are a 4:30 marathon runner, attempting to run sub 3 with just 16 weeks of training is clearly not a realistic target!

Q. Do I need to have any experience with lifting weights before beginning this program?

A. Whilst not essential, it is highly recommended that you are familiar with the basic, compound barbell movements such as the squat, press and deadlift before beginning your training. When signed up to the program we have allocated an extra two week period for you to use to familiarise yourself with the program and the prescribed lifts. Hiring a qualified strength coach or personal trainer for 1-2 sessions to ensure you are performing these lifts correctly would be a wise use of time and money.

Q. Do I have to join a gym?

A. Unless you have a home gym comprising a squat rack, bar and plates, then yes, you will need to join a gym.

Q. I already have a running coach, can I just perform the strength work?

A. Provided that your rep, tempo and long slow runs are performed on the same days as have been included in the program, yes.

Q. Will I always have access to the online program?

A. No. Once assigned you will have access for the duration of the program plus another 2 weeks to familiarise yourself with the training. A PDF copy of the workouts is attached to your welcome email, which you may print off and use at your leisure.

Q. Do I receive client feedback if I comment on the workouts set on Truecoach?

A. No. Feel free to message us via the contact form found on the ‘Meet the Coaches’ page if you cannot find the answer you are looking for.

Q. Is it possible to extend the time that I have access to the program for?

A. Yes. For £20 per month you can remain on our system. Please message us if you wish to do so.

Q. My gym doesn't have the equipment necessary to perform a given exercise?

A. The best option in this case is to ask a trainer for an alternative exercise.
